Fish Reports
Date: February 21, 2009
Current Report:
The steelhead fishing remains pretty slow.
We have had an unusually dry winter resulting in a low, clear river. It's been
zero, ones, and two fish days and this late in the season I really don't think
it's going to get any better.

Current Report:
Happy New Year! We are finally getting into some prime
fishing conditions. The river was running high causing us to get out the old
plunkin rods. We enjoyed several multiple fish days, but also saw the big goose egg a time
or two. Now getting back to the good news. The river has dropped and in prime condition.
Today we landed 3 out of 4 fish and I know of a couple other boats that landed fish. Hopefully,
we get a strong run and it continues. I will give you up to date reports. I still have
some openings in February and March so give me a call.
Thanks, Don Vecchetti

Current Report:
The Salmon fishing has been fair. My last trip we landed two hefty adults
and six jacks. Back-bouncing eggs has been effective. Finding the fish can be difficult. I have not seen
heavy concentrations, and the biggest run seems to have moved through. I've heard reports of a few steelhead
already caught. Our next rain should bring in more with December typically being a good month for the metal heads.

Current Report:
The low flow restriction was lifted, opening the entire Smith to fishing. I
fished half days over the weekend landing a total of 7 adult salmon and a half dozen jacks. All of the fish we caught
were bright, but on the smaller side with the largest being about 18 lbs. It's still early so the run will
get stronger in the coming weeks. I have salmon fishing dates available so give me a call.

Current Report:
The 2008 Salmon season is approaching fast on the Smith. Folks fishing from boats and
the bank near the mouth are having fair to poor success. There have been a handful of hawgs caught. So far timing and a
little luck are the key. A mixture of a calm ocean and co-operative tide seem to be your best bet. The river is low so we need
some rain to trigger the fish. Make your plans early. Once the fish start moving the salmon run is fairly short, peaking in
late November. But, if you can't make a trip by then don't worry. The Steelhead will follow immediately and will continue
into April. I'm booking now so give me a call for what should be a great season.
Thanks, Don Vecchetti
